We’re starting a new topic this month at Ribbons & Robots: BUILDING! There’s so much you could do with building and so many things you can build with.
I thought it would be fun to take a different approach to asking the experts this month and reached out to my favorite kid bloggers for their top building materials. I also rounded up my very favorite building activities to give you the ultimate list of building materials and activities.
Let’s dive right in and see what our building experts said about their favorite building activities.
“I always set many of our recyclables aside (cereal boxes, paper towel rolls etc.) for the kids to use to create. They grab a roll of tape and go at it!” – Chelsey, Buggy and Buddy

“Magna-Tiles, DUPLO bricks, and wooden blocks.” – MaryAnne, Mama Smiles Blog

“My favorite building material is tape. Whether it’s on its own or to aid in building other things. We love painter’s tape for so many projects and activities!” – Jamie, Hands On As We Grow

“I asked my son what his favorite building toy is for your poll & his answer is LEGO.” – Samantha, Stir the Wonder

“My kids build with all sorts of things. You can’t go wrong with a tub of recyclables, everyday household items like chopsticks, and a big roll of masking tape. We also have a variety of construction-type toys available in our playroom (Magna-Tiles, Geomag, Lego, Duplo, old-fashioned wooden blocks), and they kids often combine them to build something of their own imaginations. We love using pipe cleaners for science activities – not just for building, but also for making homemade bubble wands (and learning some of the science behind bubbles) or for creating crystals in different shapes.” – Danya, Go Science Girls

“I think maybe straws and tape are my favorite building materials.” – Asia, Fun at Home with Kids
